To recover an old account: Go to the profile of the account you'd like to recover. Click below the cover photo. Select Find support or report profile. A: It does this by triggering an internal Facebook function to switch back to the Old Layout ('Facebook Classic'). This option is offered to Admins of Pages and Groups - but not ALL Pages and Groups. A Firefox extension that enables you to switch back to the old layout of Facebook in case you simply do not enjoy using the new one

Facebook updated its looks some time ago and, for a while, it displayed a small toggle icon that allowed logged in users to switch to the old account with a click. However, once the new design was automatically and permanently enabled in September 2020, this option disappeared. If you are one of those who fancy the old layout rather than the new one, then you surely are looking for alternatives to get it back. A lightweight browser plugin might do trick.

Suggestively called Old Layout for Facebook for Firefox, this extension makes it possible for you to easily revert Facebook to its classic design. While it might not work with all the accounts, it is definitely worth a try if you simply don’t like the new Facebook appearance. Before applying the changes, please keep in mind that this extension provides an unofficial method to restore the old Facebook layout.

Switch to the old Facebook layout

Once the addon is installed, you should be able to notice a small new icon in the toolbar. If you refresh your Facebook page, then a small popup window is shown, which explains how everything works. What this window does not tell you is that, in the background, the extension practically modifies the browser’s user agent string to one that the new Facebook layout does not support.

You are notified that the extension might not work for all the account so all that is left for you to do is try it out. If the addon successfully carries out its task, your account is changed and you should be able to see new old layout no matter the browser you are using. However, logging in with a different account in a browser that has the extension installed does not guarantee that the old layout will be applied.

Applies the changes for a limited time

Old Layout for Facebook for Firefox can modify the aspect of your Facebook page for no more than 48 hours. Once the time runs out, the popup window is shown once more, allowing you to apply the changes again. In other words, the switch is not permanent.

In case switching to the old looks of Facebook fails, the Old Layout extension adds styles to the new layout, in the attempt to make the changes less obvious and easier to bare.

Revert to the old Facebook layout in Firefox

The Old Layout for Facebook extension is easily installed in Firefox and requires no configuration. Once activated, switching to the old layout is a matter of clicking a button. And, if you change your mind, after 48 hours the new layout is back.
